Srila Prabhupada circled the globe 14 times in order to spread the Krishna consciousness. He traveled all the countries, states and cities and initiated the ‘Hare Krishna’ movement. He spread the message of the Lord and set up various International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Krishna or Krsna temples across the globe for people to pray and worship the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu i.e. Lord Krishna. More than five hundred devotees attend the celebration of Janmashtami in New Zealand.
Actually, BAPS is ‘Bhakti Sampraday’ that was founded by Bhagwan Swaminarayan on 31 December 1801 CE. It belongs to the Vaishnav tradition and represents the purest form of the Hindu religion. The Janmashtami celebration in Auckland at this temple begins at around 9.30 pm in the evening. Speeches and devotional songs fill the temple focusing on divine preaching of Lord Krishna.
Besides, scene from Mahabharata called ‘Drashta’ is enacted by young boys. At midnight, to celebrate Lord Krishna’s birth, Janmashtami arti is performed. Thereafter, the idol of the Lord is rocked in a decked up cradle. Many devotees also observe waterless fast that day and break it with elaborate puja and chanting of Sanskrit mantras.
